The design of the Chehalis Modern Tudor home started with the client sharing images that they loved along with a photo of the house they just bought. They wanted to transform their new house into a home akin to those images.
Fortunately there were some commonalities in form we could play on as we nipped and tucked the house into the home they envisioned. We added living space atop the garage, we steepened roof lines, we added dormers, removed old porches while adding new ones, moved added and changed windows. Inside we adjusted the flow through the house. We removed extraneous stairs, moved rooms, opened up spaces and views, added connections to the southern yard, enlarged the kitchen and took what once was an amalgamation of rooms into a cohesive whole. The result matched the inspiration photos they originally cooed over. Their new home can serve as someone else’s inspiration now.
